I think this just-published paper is a prime example of what our @jovi journal is about: over three review rounds and more than one year, the reviewers worked _together_ with the author to improve the paper until it was ready to publish. And they are rightfully proud of their contribution, so they signed their own name to their reviews (which are also published along with the paper). Kudos! 🥳

Earlier this year my doctoral dissertation was finally published. It explores how to use #visualization to communicate #performance characteristics of complex software systems.

Does anyone know about #infovis research being done on the perception of #arrows in maps and visualizations? Like, are arrows representing quantities being interpreted by length or area? What is the influence of different arrow shapes? What role does the arrow angle play? Does the Muller-Lyer illusion have an effect on arrow interpretation? Would be thankful for any hints to infovis literature 🙏 thx

A map of Redfern if you scaled the roads by roughly how long you spend waiting at traffic lights (if you walked at 1.2m/s instead) (Better Intersections data)
info vis/cartography experts: any ideas how I could automate this?
I'm thinking some sort of force-graph lib where I could slice up maps by roads with signals, attach images with force vectors based on the max ped wait time and then let that equalise? Or better yet a vector map solution?

I hate the term "Small Multiples". Ggplot also uses a weird term, "facets". I've found the term "lattice charts" much clearer. #infovis
