Mentally, I'm feeling all over the place.

A while back, I was complaining about getting out of ITIL job and breaking into an infosec role. In February I was able to do that by accepting a role that basically advises government folks on cybersecurity projects.

Well, the role wasn't what I thought it was going to be - lots of downtime, no learning, and mostly taking meeting minutes. In fact, I spent my first 3 months working solo in a room with no window, no human interaction, and 1 working lightbulb. I was routinely left out of meetings and the lack of human interaction really got to me. Out of boredom I created Confluence pages to capture knowledge since no one was doing that. That was seen as revolutionary in this office and I was shocked that nothing like this had been done in the past. What I had interviewed for was not the work I was doing.

A couple weeks back, a company that I had interviewed in the past (didn't get the job last time but kept in touch) reached out to me. I interviewed for a new role at this company and accepted an offer where I'll be managing a team of IT auditors. Right up my alley and still supporting infosec functions.

The team that was ignoring me just started to fully integrate me into the team because another coworker moved offices (and there was a ton of drama about that). Now that I'm integrated, the team is telling me how much they value me, but I'm literally on the cusp of dropping my 2-week notice.

I feel pretty shitty though. I hate the fact that I'm leaving so soon after joining but I'm losing my mind by not learning, growing, or doing much on the job.

Sorry for the long rant but feel a bit better now this is off my chest.
