  1. Bacterial pathogens deliberately commandeer tiny droplet-like structures in plant cells, known as processing bodies (P-bodies), to shut down the host's protein synthesis. This targeted disruption prevents the plant from manufacturing the vital proteins needed to mount an effective immune response against the infiltrating microbes.

  2. Scientists at the University of Exeter have developed the world's first #genetically engineered greater wax #moths (Galleria mellonella) to serve as advanced alternatives to rodents in #infection research.

  3. I am excited that @LeibnizHKI has joined Mastodon! I am looking forward to great #scicomm about #InfectionBiology, #NaturalProducts and more. Welcome!

  4. Great collaborative effort with the Laurent Terradot team on two new #Brucella effectors modulating nuclear proteins just published in Nature Communications. Massive work by outstanding young scientists Arthur Louche and Amandine Blanco who combined #StructuralBiology, #InfectionBiology and a bit of mythology for naming the proteins, and ended up with a lot more questions than when we started!
    Congrats to all involved

  5. Second try!
    #Science #Introduction
    Based in beautiful #Lyon #France we study #bacterial #pathogens

Our focus: the intracellular sneaky pathogen #Brucella abortus; and the multi-drug resistant (not so sneaky) #Acinetobacter baumannii.

We want to know how they interact with cells, how they hide inside and what they inject into them to make all this happen.

This is our lab account, an international, inclusive, fun team with #microbiology, #InfectionBiology and #biochemistry expertise
