View along the rail, ending several hundred meters ahead at today's track terminus.
Sleepers, ballast, bolt heads – the raw structure of the trackbed. Rolling mark on the rail web dated 1943.
Historical cadastral maps (1910) show the line once continued further, today's buffer stop marks a later cutback, not the original route.

A town built from the 1830s around a single linen mill — one of the best-preserved 19th-century factory towns in Europe. Red brick tenements, factory windows, soft late-afternoon light. Some buildings beautifully renovated, some not yet — and behind a few of those windows, you can still glimpse something stranger.
Arts Council England Launch Heatwave Impact Survey – Open Until 7 August
Arts Council England’s (ACE) Environmental Responsibility team is keen to understand the impact of the UK’s recent heatwaves (May-July) on organisations in the cultural sector. In order to do this, they have launched a rapid online survey.
The rapid survey, which should take no more than five minutes to complete, aims to gather insights which will inform support for the sector on operational impacts, financial impacts, adaptation methods and communication, and future preparedness.
The survey will close at 5pm on Friday 7 August 2026.

A silent witness to bygone industrial days:
This rusted swan neck vent pipe projects lonely out of the dense undergrowth.
Once part of a technical system, it is now being slowly reclaimed piece by piece by nature.
The distinctive bend originally protected the system from weather influences.
Today, it remains a quiet, fascinating relic amid the wild vegetation.
