Kales are biannual at best around here—I mean they flower in the following spring to go to seed.

I have indoor snack kales—they do fairly well on my plant shelf with growLight.

Roma tomatoes from my community garden plot so far. They’re grown on the accidental winter sprouts in the #indoorShelfGarden by the window. When I planted them outside, they looked hopeless. But tomatoes grow like weeds. The first batch of red tomatoes were stolen by the small critters. So I’m ecstatic to get these. The green ones will turn red soon. They’re delicious. 🤗❤️🍅✨

Planted the propagated snapdragon cuttings by the fence. They’re still small, but they’ll probably grow faster outside. I still have 6 more on the #IndoorShelfGarden.

My #IndoorShelfGarden is affected by scale bugs again. It’s been clear of them since I scrubbed the shelf in the fall until recently.

What do you do to fend off until it’s warm enough to put them outside? It might be for another month, if spring comes early.

I know Jasmine will be ok (they almost die every winter). The lavender from cuttings look fine. Blue salvia (I suppose I can grow them from seeds again) and hyssop (I recently cut back to almost bare) are my concern. Thanks!

A tomato has spouted in the pot in which the lavender cuttings are set. So I carefully repotted the seedling to a larger pot. We’ll see if the tomato will grow in my #IndoorShelfGarden ! 😄💚🍅🌱✨ square photos

Speaking of the #IndoorShelfGarden, the hyssop started to bloom last night. 💜🪴

All she needs is some bees! 🐝💕

I think this is a citrus #mealybug. They’ve been living on one of the snack kales (for the ratties) in my #IndoorShelfGarden. 🥹

Well, the hyssop flowers on the broken stem went to seeds and produced offspring. I repotted carefully, and here they are, thriving under the plant light next to a pot of basil seedlings. 🌱✨

Could you partially enclose the area with shower curtains? Oh just a wild suggestion without really knowing your basement!😆
I have a #IndoorShelfGarden by the bright window with 2 LED grow lights, mainly for garnish herbs and our ratties’ snack kales. The issue here is humidity gets low as the outside temp plummets. I mist them daily.

It’s always “sunny” by this window, and lifts our mood when the weather is gloomy. #IndoorShelfGarden 🪴🌱✨💚💕
