Another slab done! This one was part of the finalists boulders for a junior comp. The footholds during the first half were beyond bad and reaching up to the undercling was a tricky move, can't imagine how hard that must be for children half my size. Glad I finally got it!

...So yesterday was "New Roof Day" at @WhiteSpiderClimbing - always a fun time as it doesn't happen so often. So many fun routes and a great set, but 5(ish) laps of the roof didn't leave enough left in the tank to try the hard ones; next time, maybe! Thanks to Jon for the belay, company, and enthusiasm.

One from the "Try hard at White Spider" collection... Been a little broken since Nice; tweaked my elbow when I came back and it's been niggly since, so I've put the try-hard on hold a little. With the elbow complaining less, I figure it's time to apply a little and see. The cave was both a project and test - had had one session at it and struggled transitioning to the wall and also completing the final sequence but found it didn't tweak the elbow too much (no lockoffs!). Tuesday was cave day... Thursday was back to crimpy routes likely to tweak the elbow. Luckily the cave looks like it's up another month for another session, and the route seems doable with a little practice and try-hard. We'll see!

Had a flash go at this one when it was fresh and the route card wasn't up yet and got a little sandbagged. Still, it seemed pretty do-able... The route card now says... "What number is this, Chip?" (<Monkees joke)... Let's see...

Loving the new @whitespiderclimbing compwall set; nice progression and interestingly different from recent sets. Did all the "easy" ones last week and the wall's mostly been out for other setting when I've been in since, so now it's time to try nearer the top of my flash-grade. This blue has big @gazparry energy (lacking footholds, especially the crux!)... Or maybe @alex_patterson_climbing was just channelling him! 😂 Great route either way!

The new @WhiteSpiderCLimbing comp wall set is rather fun. Bit of a grade gap between the (softish) 6c to this blue 7a+ (or nails 7a maybe if you have fingers of steel), but all top routes with great movement. This one is no exception with classic @YannGenoux vibes - tough, technical, interesting, progressively harder, and the crux at the top. Didn't feel up to trying this the first session, but did everything easier so now it's time to #TryHard !

So, what do you do when a session cancels on you leaving an hour and a half 'til your next? Break yourself in the #bouldering cave of course...
Nice cave set this time, but kind brutal. This one is easy compared the 7b and 7c+ sequences the other guys swapping tries in the cave were into, but I was happy to have got this far. Reckon I can get it this time... probably by ignoring the foot on the pillar entirely!

Probably ought to have tried this one when it went up as those pinches up top are like quarries now... But I was too busy getting shut down on the blue "6c" next to it in humid weather (Also Yann's) 😂
Damn, this feel brutal! I was so wasted by the time I got to the pinches (yeah, doing all the moves on the blue next to it first didn't help...) and that move is soooo big!
Still, feels achievable so I will be back for sendgeance.

Great new(ish now) routes from @EmmaTwyford - all three lines are really fun movement, right from the blue 5+ up to and including the green 7a I haven't sent (yet!). Even the swirly 7b looks try-able and fun. I always find the fortune-cookie pockets on this orange 6c almost exactly the wrong shape for my fingers, but the route is much fun that in this case it just makes it better. Proof positive that @WhiteSpider needs to get Emma in a bit more often; it's been too long since we had a nice variety of Emma's techy routes to play on.

Go 1; dogged all the moves
Go 2; pumped out at the big sloper on the penultimate volume
Go 3; pumped out setting up for the dyno and sent in 2 parts
Go 4; missed the dyno
Go 5...
Well worth the effort and so satisfying to send smoothly (apart from the last move...)
