Also (mostly for the German listeners I'm afraid) I will explain the organ point composition technique which is featured even in modern music (and without an organ if you are lucky).
And I will merge Johann Sebastian Bach's name into "Johannes Bach" by misstake at one point. I honestly know better! I can say this because the show is preproduced (and still I didn't catch this before uploading it to the radio station; this is bad!).

This morning I found myself humming Faking The Books. So had to spin this gem. It's from 2004 and behold, there is a direct link with The Postal Service. If you love Give Up as much as I do then give Faking The Books a listen. It's a beautiful record, one of my favorites of all time, heck, maybe I like it even more than Give Up. It also contains a song that always, always touches me deeply. Alienation is the title of that song.

Elskavon is not the first alternative musician/producer to flirt with more mainstream sounds, but I can't think of many that have kept their dignity quite as intact in doing so. On his new LP for Western Vinyl he bates unwary, casual listeners with familiar tropes to lure them into electronic, postmodern depths & before they know it they're humming along in an underground twilight zone, googling Tim Hecker & Neoclassical.
