Here is @SimoneChalkley' surprise birthday cake at The Seven Stars, a lovely Indian restaurant in Cambridge. It's gajar halwa, made with carrots, milk, sugar, and cardamom, with pistachio on top. It tastes a bit like baklava, but with carrot instead of pastry!

Lovely, aromatic looong grain basmati "jeera" made in my rice cooker. (Color is mostly from the homemade veggie stock used.)
Indian bay leaf, cardamom, cinnamon, clove, star anise, cumin, ghee.
