I just watched this vid by Rowan Ellis (no relation to Lindsay Ellis) discussing the subject of "adulting" and the infantilization of millennial women. And I think "discussion" is accurate since I didn't take away a conclusion that seemed distinctly hers... but I appreciate the related topics she brought up.
I was AMAB and have struggled to receive recognition my entire adult life (from my early 20s, at least). I noted certain milestones of my own: moving out, getting my own apartment, paying taxes, paying bills, making leisure purchases, making functional/utility purchases, and whatnot. 🤩
I don't, for the most part, rely on others for validation. I'm not an island, but in my mid-20s I "decided" for myself that I didn't want "validation" from my parents bc I never felt I would receive it. By the time I did- I was in my 30s and no longer cared. 🤷♀️
