In these pages you'll find the pantheon, rituals, symbols and practices of Ariadne's Tribe, an inclusive Minoan spiritual tradition.

With a pantheon headed by a triplicity of mother goddesses who embody the three sacred realms of land, sky, and sea, Minoan spirituality calls us to remember a time when women were valued as equals to men, when the Great Mothers took care of *all* their children (all means *all*), and when the sacred touched every person every day of their lives.

Minoan spirituality is so relevant to our times, when we’re doing our best to move forward and away from inequality and oppression.

I do a lot more than just "the Minoan stuff." I bet you do, too. I'd love to hear about the other things you all do besides what you're best known for - spiritually, hobbies, pastimes, etc.... we're all multi-faceted beings!

First Crescent Moon through the trees last night. In Ariadne's Tribe, this is a night for divination. Favorite method? Scrying in a cup of wine! In the Tribe, we call this manifestation of the Moon Diktynna's Bow, a reference to the goddess Britomartis, whose epithet is Diktynna, connecting her not with fishing nets (that's a later, classical-era interpretation) but with Mt. Dikte, the mountain on Crete that's sacred to our Earth Mother Goddess Rhea.

Today's Minoan Tarot cards:

Maid of Labryses: Stay curious and don't give up on puzzling out the solution to your problems. But do your best not to automatically reject the conventional answers to your questions; sometimes you don't need out-of-the-box thinking to find the solution.

Priest of Labryses: Take your time to analyze the situation, develop a strategy, and make sure it aligns with your ethics. Avoid allowing emotion to cloud the issue; think clearly and firmly as you consider the situation. Then, when you have settled on the right answer, don't hesitate to act.

Today's Minoan Tarot cards:

Lady of Labryses: The creative thinker. As you puzzle out the solutions to your problems, allow yourself to think outside the box. Yes, some of the ideas you come up with will be impractical and you'll have to set them aside. But the workable solutions that you do find will put you much farther ahead than any amount of conventional thinking ever could.

Lady of Horns: Patience and care. Stay grounded. Take the time to examine every angle of the situation and then move forward with slow deliberation, using delicacy and tact. Don't let anyone else push you to move quickly. Take your time, and your patience will be rewarded.

Ariadne's Tribe: Inclusive Minoan Spirituality

In this newly revised and updated second edition of Labrys and Horns, you’ll find the pantheon, rituals, symbols and practices of Ariadne's Tribe, an inclusive revivalist tradition that connects the deities of ancient Crete with modern Pagans in a living spiritual practice. With a pantheon headed by a triplicity of mother goddesses who embody the three sacred realms of land, sky, and sea, Minoan spirituality calls us to remember a time when women were valued as equals to men, when the Great Mothers took care of all their children, and when the sacred touched every person every day of their lives.

Minoan spirituality is so relevant to our times, when we’re doing our best to move forward and away from inequality and oppression.

This book can help you build relationships with the Minoan deities and bring their blessings into your life, and from there, into the larger world.

Just like us, the deities have specialties. And they're happy to help out humans whose interests coincide with theirs.

Sunshine through the window on the Minoan altar. Though the Serpent Mother is an obvious "resident" on this altar, many other members of the Minoan pantheon are also represented.

We need our rites of passage! I've included rites of passage for the usual stuff (birth, coming of age, marriage, etc.) in my books. But how about a general purpose rite of passage, for those changes in life that don't fall under the rubric of Official Big Events? Here's a meditation that you can use for those occasions, and even for those times months or years ago when you wish you'd had some way to acknowledge the momentous transformation in your life.
