#Wajima, #Ishikawa, #Japan is a tiny town - the population is ~27,000 people, but that is the entire "county", not the city proper. The actual town had like 3 or 4 thousand when I lived there 20+ years ago.
Wajima was surprisingly cosmopolitan back then because they had so many tourists AND they had the wajima nuri (lacquer ware) school. My neighbor was a wajima nuri student from Tokyo, and another friend was a student from the Hiroshima area.
In some ways, not typical #inaka at all.
