  1. Hey! Anyone want to go in on a beach rental in Rodanthe?

    Err... never mind.
    (check off another vacation rental)

"Cape Hatteras National Seashore (Seashore) was notified shortly before 6 p.m. that an unoccupied house collapsed at 23047 G.A. Kohler Court in Rodanthe, North Carolina. Seashore staff are responding to the collapse and plan to begin initial cleanup efforts tomorrow, Oct. 4"

Full loop of the Fujiwhara interaction between hurricanes #Imelda and #Humberto.

Such a fascinating process to witness!

  3. #Imelda #NCwx #OBX #Buxton

From NC’s Weather Authority on FB: Overnight, due to high surf, a sixth home collapsed in 24 hours on Hatteras Island in Buxton at the end of Tower Circle Road. The beach in the Buxton area is dangerous, so please avoid it. The beach in Buxton remains closed to the public due to piles of hazardous debris. Additional home collapses are likely in Buxton and potentially Rodanthe this afternoon as we approach high tide due to additional coastal flooding expected.

  4. Tropical cyclones #Humberto and #Imelda are developing in the Atlantic off the coast of the United States.

These two nearby low-pressure systems are interacting and will merge, a phenomenon known as the Fujiwara effect, which occurs very rarely.

Last night the chinese satellite #HY-2C captured the two systems in a single swath of his #HSCAT instrument. Our team at @knmi retrieved the wind from these data, allowing us to observe the phenomenon.

  5. Meanwhile, in North Carolina, they just had another 5 houses collapse due to Imelda and Humberto.

  6. #Humberto and #Imelda are so close to each other that their circulating winds cancel each other out in a calm “col” area in between them.

🇧🇲 #Bermuda needs to be on alert however as Imelda will likely cause flash flooding and damaging waves from Wednesday into Thursday.

  7. Das ist schon wirklich selten, dass sich zwei Hurrikans so nahe beieinander befinden. Aufgrund der Nähe beeinflussen sie sich gegenseitig. Diesen Effekt nennt man Fujiwhara-Effekt.

  10. #Imelda and #Humberto heading north before their expected eastward turn out to sea together 👫

  11. #Imelda #TropicalStorm #NCwx #SCwx

From WMFB Chief Meteorologist Jamie Arnold on FB: Hand in hand! What an impressive view of Imelda with 65 mph winds and Humberto with 140 mph winds. Imelda is still moving north but the turn east starts tomorrow. It’ll be an even better view then with twin hurricanes.
