I installed Windows10 on my Linux Distro, as there are still no FOSS solutions to update a Garmin GPS and to backup/manage an iPhone.

I found out that Gnome Boxes is nice but useless, as the iPhone crashes the Win10 Machine due to the USB not being reverse-compatible to USB-2(ehci), but that 'Virt-Manager' works, if you adjust it to USB-2 from the drop-down menu.

"iCloud Drive Abo 200 GB beendet“ —> Ich komme davon nicht weg weil die ich iPhones der Familie sichern will, ohne dass jemand daran denken muss.
Zusätzlich läuft aber auch #iMazing (🇨🇭). Das muss man immer aktiv anstoßen bzw. per Code im WLAN das Backup freigeben. (nervt) (1/2)

Our dear niece passed away recently, and I wanted to help her parents preserve some memories from her iPhone. iMazing and some shell scripting to clean up the data helped me do it.

A little shoutout to #iMazing for #macOS as it let me download the #iOS ipa-file for a long delisted app that's required to change the settings of my #VuzeXR camera.

The app was still on my #iPhone so I could export it using iMazing3. Can now run the same app on my MacBook Pro, Mac Studio and have installed it on my iPads again. Really shitty #Apple doesn't provide the means to do this!

Best thing yet is that all this functionality is usable for free. Their trial is very generous!

I don't worry about weekly nags when macOS Catastrophe nags me daily for permission. I use iMazing on my Mac to backup all my iOS devices. Every day I get this silly permission nag on my iPhone. Note that Apple doesn't even tell me *which* computer is asking for permission. That's kinda important for security, but what do I know?

I know that #iMazing got some of my money because I’ve had good experience with it in the past, but my installation wasn’t up to date.

Is anyone on here using an app like iMazing to backup your iOS devices locally? I have access to AnyTrans via Setapp, but the reviews are awful. Does the iMazing license cover new devices when you upgrade, or must you purchase a new license each time? I have a lot of files on my iPhone, so I'd likely need to back up to an external HDD/SSD. Trying to figure all of this out now so I have things set in place for the iPhone 17 this fall.

Nachdem ich neulich auch wieder mit GarageBand rumgewerkelt habe, kommt mir der Tipp mit iMazing gerade recht. Es hat zwar seinen Charme nur mit iOS-Bordmittel einen Klingelton erstellen zu können, aber schön ist tatsächlich was anderes.
