  1. Over the past month or so I've repurchased four books from my (let's call it...) youth. I have lost a lot of stuff from my childhood home and while I can't replace everything, I do like that I can some things.

In this case, the items are actually upgrades.

Picked up hardback copies of #StephenKing ,errr #PeterStraub (ha) #TheTalisman and #TheBlackHouse. Also grabbed hardbacks of #CliveBarker #WeaveWorld and #Imajica. (I've also got autographed copies of #Everville and #TheGreatAndSecretShow, but those were picked up years ago)

I've read them all in paperback way, way back in the day, but I like the security of hardback.

All I know is, I'm gonna be pissed if Amazon ever buys #ThriftBooks.

  2. “She'd been innocent in dramas of an earlier age, a toy in cruel and careless hands. But the woman she'd become over the decades was neither victim nor toy…” #CliveBarker #Imajica #reading

  3. “Though the streets of this city were solid, their buildings numbered and named, though the avenues were bright enough even at night to banish ambiguity, he still felt as though he was on the margin of some unknown land, in danger of crossing into it without realizing he was even doing so.” #CliveBarker #Imajica

This quote kinda hits home in a weird way for me. A vague, twisting kind of way.

I have almost no words these days, only feelings. And that’s been a good thing for the most part. I stopped putting words to everything for awhile and now I’m having trouble finding them again. But I’m not sure I want them. Are they just old habit or is there reason enough to find them?

  4. Feeling much better after a shower.
Had some leftover Chinese for lunch. Then some corn on the cob. I've been interested in food again lately and that's been nice. Much less time spent feeling sickly.

Meditation this morning has my back feeling better. I was in such a bad state yesterday.

Going to make some coffee and read for awhile. Or would I be better off napping? A. and I started reading #Imajica together. We've yet to make half a dent what with my focus lately and his work schedule always.

  5. New instance, new #introduction part 2 (reposted from my previous instance):

#7Books is agony, so #14books it is:

    #Imajica by Clive Barker
    #Orlando by Virginia Woolf
#GoodOmens by Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman
    #JonathanStrangeAndMrNorrel by Susanna Clarke
    #TheSouthernReachTrilogy by @jeffvandermeer
    #DearSenthuran by Akwaeke Emezi
    #TheGoneAwayWorld by Nick Harkaway
    #WhiteIsForWitching by Helen Oyeyemi
    #RoadsidePicnic by the Brothers Strugatsky
    #AllTheBirdsInTheSky by @charliejane
    #Carmilla by Sheridan Le Fanu
    #TheGoldfinch by Donna Tartt
    #BloodMeridian by Cormac McCarthy
    #TheLibraryAtMountChar by Scott Hawkins

Ok, I fibbed. One last go-to comfort re-read: the #Discworld series, also by Terry Pratchett (Is listing an entire series cheating? I can't possibly pick one. Sorry not sorry.)

  6. @williamfaicher I’m not avid, so it’s a different scale, but #Sacrament, my first book by #CliveBarker, was like poetry, ocean-deep and personal. Because of it, I’m tackling #Imajica next, pray for me.
