  1. ❗Update on Plagiarism and Falsification in Scientific Publications

Today, I officially submitted requests for the retraction of articles to the editorial boards of the journals "Land Reclamation and Water Management" and "Bulletin of NUWM".

    ❗Key facts of misconduct:
🔹 Plagiarism: Unauthorized use of my original relief map (2015) without citation.
🔹 Falsification: Intentional removal (retouching) of the author’s stamp with coordinates and date-time on site photographs.
🔹 Duplication: Publication of identical material in 2021 and 2024.

    Next steps:
In the event of attempts to covertly remove the articles without an official retraction notice, relevant complaints will be forwarded directly to @crossref and the international members of the editorial boards.

Turn your two-bit doodles into fine artworks with deep neural networks, generate seamless textures from photos, transfer style from one image to another, perform example-based upscaling, but wait... there's more! (An implementation of Semantic Style Transfer.)

  3. Here for another example is a test of a naive way to apply image 1's palette to image 3, using only HSL adjustment and curves. Obviously in many contexts extracting the colours from image 1 and using them to make a gradient map would do the job better. #imagemanipulation

  4. I did some experimenting with #ImageManipulation in #Krita this evening. I took a #KoruTawa image I generated last weekend, trimmed strips out to make it narrower, resized, then applied an explode filter in Irfanview and pasted four copies of that back into Krita with soft light, overlay, lighten, and darken blend modes, and decreased the opacity of all layers. It created a surprisingly cool diffuse texture and gives the shapes some volume and glow.

  5. TechSpot: Reversing blurred pixels to reveal censored content in videos is easier than you think. “Viewers of a recent YouTube video by developer Jeff Geerling demonstrated how free software can unmask information hidden behind mosaic censorship. The experiment showed that anyone attempting to obscure content in a video should either block it entirely or avoid recording it in the first […]

  7. New video test! Inspired by work of @conor such as vimeo.com/1045788384 I thought: what else can you do with rows of color pixels? I did this: vimeo.com/1062659668 Currently silent, may add sound later.

"Millions of people now own smartphones where, with just a tap, you can erase people from pictures — and even add AI generated content that never existed. What does this mean for our shared reality?"
