3. Abraham Accords - Under Eisenkot, I believe there could be a restart of the Abraham Accords, and I think an opportunity to work with Saudi Arabia.
4. Demeanor - Eisenkot has some specific advantages when it comes to diplomacy with its regional neighbors. He is very soft spoken and while large and clearly physically powerful, he comes off with a very different energy than Netanyahu. It's not "gentle" per se, but it's different.
5. Arabic - Eisenkot is an Arabic speaker. His family is from Morocco and he grew up near Arab communities. He understand not only Arabic as a language, but culture and customs. For a culture that is so much about interpersonal relationships, this could be a huge benefit when it comes to negotiations.
There is a lot of work that will need to be done to heal Israel, both internally and externally. Many will never accept an Israel, but if there's any hope in this next election, I believe it exists with Eisenkot.

Looking at the Israeli polling data, it looks like Eisenkot has a decent chance. It's not a sure thing by any means, but it's a decent chance. Of course nothing is a sure thing and as long as neither party wins a majority (which seems unlikely), either would need a coalition government.
Eisenkot is a right winger and his policies aren't radically different than Netanyahu's, but under an Eisenkot government there would be some true opportunities:
1. Not beholden to the far right. - Much of what we see out of Israel in terms of extreme statements and policies come not even out of Likud, but the extreme right wing parties. Under Eisenkot, this would not be the case.
2. Not Netanyahu - This alone could help Israel internationally. Even if the policies aren't radically different, I'm hopeful that with Eisenkot that Israel will have a few chances to heal its international image, albeit slowly.

I really hope this is true. Israel needs to be stopped and it seems like no one outside Israel is willing to take the risk at say no to this vile, out of control fascist state with the backing of the Orange Hitler and European Liberals and fascists.
Lets hope that the people of Israel stop this downward spiral and save themselves and the rest of the world from an even bigger catastrophe that Netanyahu and his KKK ministers pushing us to.

The only reason I am struggling to decide who to vote for in the #Illinois senate race is the lack of #RankedChoiceVoting. I know who I support, but I also know the polling says the worst candidate is in the lead (naturally, he has the most corporate money), so do I back the 2nd place and hope she can overtake him?
This would be a complete non-issue with RCV. It's just plain stupid that we still use this broken plurality system.

#ILpol - I feel I should be home protesting rather than away in DebConf. Currently things are boiling:
The ultra-orthodox threaten to leave the coalition. What they're after a very unpopular conscription law and the coalition has failed to provide it. Right now it has cost them lots of money.
On the other hand, the anti-democratic revolutionary regulation is also slowly in progress, with some things in that front. And protest necessary there.
