I got a rare treat tonight! I looked over and saw my elusive Chilobrachys sp. 'Electric Blue' out of its burrow. I snapped as many photos as I could without distrubing it too much and these are the four best.

My #Theraphosa blondi finally let me have this #molt and it was both large and intact enough that I am pretty sure I can officially determine that she is female! 🎉
That flappy bit between her front book lungs that is resting on a part of the forceps is, I believe, her spermatheca.

I ordered a Neoholothele incei 'Gold' from Swift's Invertebrates. He includes a freebie in every order but the current freebies listed on his site for orders under $100 are some smaller centipedes. I told him there is no need to send a freebie because centipedes give me the willies (tho I'd consider keeping Scolopendra gigantea). To my happy surprise, he included a Brachypelma albopilosum with my order instead!

During feeding time for the #tarantulas this evening, the Pterinochilus murinus bolted which resulted in me briefly handling it - something I'm not a fan of generally but especially not with that species. Their common name is Orange Baboon #Tarantula (OBT) but they are better known as Orange Bitey Thing.

The vendor I was miffed at for sending me the wrong species (Grammostola pulchripes) over two years ago offered me a very steep discount on a replacement which definitely took the sting out a little. It was delayed by FedEx for a day but arrived healthy and active today. Meet my new little Brazilian Black Tarantula (Grammostola pulchra)!
