#OnThisDay in 1737, Elizabeth Singer Rowe passed away.
Elizabeth grew up in #Ilchester & #Frome. She wrote poetry and pieces on morality and religion, becoming one of the most widely read authors of the time.
At her father’s death in 1719, Elizabeth inherited large properties in Frome and Ilchester. She gave away half the annual income to charity.
Elizabeth stayed in Frome until her death. She was buried at Rock Lane Chapel for nonconformiss, pictured below.
