  1. This is the finale of Paisiello's Barber of Seville, which I recorded in early December but never posted for some reason?? (I think I had it in my head that I'd redo some of the characters but that ain't gonna happen lol) In this scene the true meaning of "The Useless Precaution" is finally revealed: you can't beat an aristo because they've won before you even knew you were playing

  2. My next best English language adaptation of Italian opera would be my "Don Basilio! Cosa veggo!", the heartwarming scene in which the crew teams up to gaslight a man into believing he is deathly ill

  4. I consider my English language adaptation of the Act 1 finale of Rossini's Barber of Seville "Ehi di casa" probably the best of my English language opera adaptations by the metric of of "probably entertaining to people who like musicals but find opera intimidating" but it exists as 6 separate videos on YouTube. I realized when linking them to someone on here recently that was far too much friction, so here is the whole thing in the same video, native to Mastodon

  6. The 1787 Fiorentini Finale of Paisiello's Barber of Seville, release candidate edition

I think I fixed mostly everything, if y'all can't find anything else this will be the version I stick on YouTube (and thus the version I'll be linking when trying to nag academics to give this their attention)

  7. BEHOLD, I have brought Benda's Barber back to life! Here is the aria "Triumph! Der Sieg ist mein"

this may be the first time in over a century anyone has performed this. I am absolutely certain this the the first time anyone has performed this in English

  8. okay guys i have something special here. i have summoned the Morlacchi Barber of Seville from the sands of time using this handwritten score, the only notation of this opera I could find. I've found that Paisiello's Barber gets staged by SOMEBODY like at least every five years. I have no idea when the hell THIS was last performed. this is the rarest of rare figaros

  9. guys i just found out that there is another Barber opera. Some guy named Francesco Morlacchi wrote a new score to the Petrosellini libretto used by Paisiello and he had the extremely terrible luck to premiere his opera literally two months after Rossini's Barber, thus all his hard work was ignored and lost to history

so ofc we must investigate this third Barber opera
