I never heard the words, I hate you, until I was an adult. I would hear them often over the next decade. It's chilling. The first time I ever heard it, I was heartbroken and devastated. The last time, I was indifferent and dismissive.
Verbal abuse destroyed the foundation of who I was. It completely broke me down to nothing until I finally agreed with them and hated me, too. #trauma #ihateyou
