  1. If you don't have a lot of time to spare I would point you toward "An Ode to People" and "Kiss the Cook", each of which can be read in just a few minutes.

I haven't cast my vote yet but I'm leaning towards Jake Spooky. While I normally don't care for animation or sound in my webcomics, this one is pulling them off pretty well.

  2. Jake Spooky by Michael Grover
    grovertoons.com/jakespooky

Some interesting tricks with animation and sound in this story about a punk rock ghost who's full of wolves.

  4. 3rd Voice by Evan Dahm
    rice-boy.com/3rdvoice/

Coming from the creator of the venerable "Rice Boy" and "Vattu", this one is a contender with a noble pedigree. ~750 pages and counting.

  5. Voting is open (until September 12th) for the 2025 #IgnatzAwards. As I've done in past years, here are links to the nominees for Outstanding Online #Comic. Anyone can vote by requesting a ballot on the web site. (N.B., the ballot request page is not working for me in Firefox but it is in Chromium.)

  6. 18. Krazy Kat: 1916·1917 (George Herriman).

  7. I'm not affiliated with SPX or any of the nominees, so I guess I don't have to be impartial. My vote is going to Rigsby WI. All of the nominees are worthy contenders and worth reading, but for me, Rigsby stands above the rest. It excels in both art and story, which is something you can't always say about comics from a solo creator.

  8. The Legend of La Mariposa by James Lawrence

    longlivelamariposa.tumblr.com/
    (platform: Tumblr)

Comic action about a luchadora who battles demons and the like. Mostly silly, but occasionally touches on themes like the nature of choice?

  9. Rigsby WI by SE Case

    rigsbywi.com/
    (platform: self-hosted with Wordpress)

Bittersweet slice-of-life stories about a group of teenagers in suburban Wisconsin in the early oughts. No Mary Sues here, every character is kind of amazing and kind of awful and very easy to feel sympathy for. Over 450 pages and counting.

  10. Marigold by Emily Zilber

    muthamagazine.com/2023/10/mari

An eight-page comic about coping with loss. You probably have time to read it right now.

    dutytocountry.org/graphic-nove

  13. Voting is now open (until September 13th) for the 2024 Ignatz Awards, the festival prize of the Small Press Expo. Following is a short run-down of the nominees for Outstanding Online Comic. You don't have to go to the convention to vote (I'm not), and you don't have to vote in every category. You also don't have to vote at all if you don't want to. You can just read & enjoy these fine comics.

  14. Voting for the 2023 #Ignatz awards is underway and will close on September 8th.

I lack the time/energy to put together a thread like I did last year, but, for anyone who's interested, I think it would be feasible to read enough of the "Online" nominees before the deadline to form an opinion.

One caveat: SPX's link to Reimena Yee's "The God of Arepo" is wrong; use: reimenayee.itch.io/the-god-of-

  15. #introduction #Ignatz is the alter-ego of Belgian #guitarist Bram Devens. With a guitar and a few effects, he creates his very own style of improvisation-inspired Euro blues #music.

In 1910, the illustrator George Herriman created the Krazy Kat comic strip. Ignatz, a vicious mouse, was Krazy Kat’s arch enemy, and his favourite pastime was to throw bricks at Krazy Kat’s head (who misinterpreted the mouse’s actions as declarations of love).

  16. CW: comic book mayhem

    #7ComicStripsToKnowMe

    1) #KrazyKat by George Herriman

    2) #Peanuts (Schulz was right to hate this name) by Charles M. Schulz

    3) #LittleNemoInSlumberland by Windsor McCay

    4) #Popeye by E.C. Segar

Probably no one will give me too much grief over these first four. After this it gets more idiosyncratic.

Gibt es Erhebungen ob mehr Bäume pro Sturm Umknicken oder nicht?
