A Few Guided Gatherings
When we gather, we inspire
When we gather, we learn.
When we gather, we comfort.
When we gather, we encourage.
When we gather, we teach.
When we gather, we hold.
When we gather, we witness.
And, sometimes, our gatherings become embers that can spark change.
Lasting change rarely starts with fireworks. Sometimes it starts with a group of strangers.
Not too long ago, I had a signing event. I was going to read from a book, sign autographs. I intentionally designed the signing so that it was about more than reading a passage and signing a book. I asked thoughtful questions, challenged surface answers, and chose a provoking sample to read. Because I wanted a real conversation. I wanted connection. An attendee hung back and asked one question, then another, and a third. The answers mattered to her and soon there were tears and hugs. Later, she would e-mail me to say she completed a disclosure guide I wrote and gifted to the attendees to give to someone she trusted.
Gatherings have the potential to be more than awkward. They have the potential to shift our perceptions. And I wanted to create more of those spaces.
Within these pages, you’ll find workshops and circles I lead throughout the year. You can look here for upcoming dates and information on how to sign up. None of these are therapy spaces. Instead, they are collaborative gatherings meant to help identity thought and behavior patterns, equip you with grounding, somatic and breath exercises, teach you the neuroscience behind defense mechanisms so we can examine old scripts to see if they are still needed and, most of all, provide a sense of community. Whether it was abuse, betrayal, heartbreak, loss or disappointment, we have all struggled with challenges; no one is exempt from anger, anxiety, depression or fear. We’ve all learned ways to survive alone. And also – our hearts can rest a little easier when we don’t have to. Some opportunities are guided so that you can experience what it feels like to not be alone. Some are so that you can learn more about a human rights’ issue because when we know things, we become empowered.

ashRISE is a free six-week, trauma-informed workshop that blends nervous-system education, grounding and somatic tools with creative reflection, helping participants recognize the “smoke signals” of survival and shape what they have carried into something visible, useful and entirely their own. It does not ask anyone to erase the past or perform healing; it offers practical ways to feel more present while honoring the parts of us that worked so hard to survive.

HERO is an interactive workshop for survivors of sexual and physical violence, created to make room for honest stories, personal expression and the stubborn truth that survival itself is evidence of courage. Through connection, optional sharing and creative work, participants are invited to challenge shame, recognize the hero within themselves and discover that what happened may have changed their lives without becoming the whole of who they are.

Be the Hope is an interactive human-trafficking awareness workshop that moves beyond statistics to examine how exploitation begins, why vulnerable people may not recognize or name what is happening to them, and how ordinary people can notice warning signs and respond with compassion rather than judgment. It is built around the belief that hope is not merely something we feel, but something we can choose to become for another person.

The Storynlight Circle offers personalized, trauma-informed coaching for people ready to understand the stories, survival patterns and protective responses they carry with greater curiosity and compassion. Through one-on-one conversation, grounding tools and support between sessions, the work honors each person’s pace while helping them move toward self-trust, boundaries and a life shaped by more than what happened to them.
