I remember how much I struggled in school and it was only after getting an #IEP through #IDEA that I started getting accomodations. That was in high school and I've thought what if I'd been able to have them earlier. Would I be struggling less now? There's no way of knowing, but a lot of kids will be left without accomodations because of this. Is there still #Section504 through the #ADA I wonder? I know that was being threatened months ago.

I'm a believer in reversing the traditional vector of IEPs, scaffolding & differentiation - by that I mean, once one makes any IEP adaptations, then why not then fold those adaptations back into the general class, whenever possible?
Much of what I originally made for students with IEPs became sought after by all my other students, and then students of other teachers, from the Honors science classes (and now from other schools.)https://kaiserscience.wordpress.com/

If a child is subject to attendance requirements - state testing (not chosen by the parent) - is eligible to receive #SpEd and #IEP services - has access to sports and after-school programming BUT all their instruction happens at home through online instruction, that child is generally not considered a homeschooler.

An 8yo doing algebra may be grouped with a majority of 13yos, but if their reading skills aren't as advanced, they'd be grouped with other 7-9yos. Same philosophy applies for kids with an #IEP. Not every #SpEd kid is low-achieving across all subjects. They should absolutely have the opportunity to keep advancing in their areas of strength. /3
