  1. #Apple lies. I'm not surprised *that* this is true; I'm surprised *how* this manifests.

I was looking for a #game in the #AppStore. Not a specific game, but some kind of puzzle game that has reasonable #privacy practices.

Apple is *all* about how their #App Store has only curated #apps.

There are up to three parts to this standard disclosure. This particular set has the following:

    - #Data shared across all the apps on your device that is used to #track you

    - Data linked to your #identity that the app is not specifically sharing

    - Data that is *not* linked to you with no indication whether or how it's shared

This particular set lists #Identifiers in both the "Data Used to Track You" section and the "Data Not Linked to You" and these are mutually exclusive.

Same for #UsageData that is "Data Linked to your Identity" and "Data Not Linked to You"

    wtaf?

There's some kinda #fraud happening here, though I can't say I'm shocked. #Logic should prevent this listing from even being possible. You cannot track me with something not linked to my identity. Likewise, something cannot be both linked to my identity and *not* linked to my identity. I'm not the brightest cookie in the drawer, but this isn't rocket surgery, either.

And no, I didn't install that game.

  18. An article I co-wrote with @Kath_burton and Catherine Cocks was posted Friday: Recognizing and harnessing the transformational power of persistent identifiers (PIDs) for publicly-engaged scholars - content.iospress.com/articles/

Abstract: While more recognizable publishing models continue to be favored across academic research and publishing systems, the diverse forms of knowledge emerging from publicly-engaged projects derived from working directly with and for communities requires novel and more dynamic publishing solutions. This article considers how the appropriate application of metadata and persistent identifiers to the processes and outputs of engaged scholarship are required to support the goals of the publicly-engaged humanities, and potentially lead to faster and more effective forms of impact for the people and places involved.

  20. Last February I wrote a script to parse a Git #diff of a custom text format, to keep sequential IDs consistent when the sequence changes, and I'm still so proud that it works. Here I had to add three #taxon names and it correctly created new #identifiers!

  21. Everyone has fun #identifiers in their #bio (especially you #developers that seem to make up 80% of users here lol), and it's so interesting to me, as I've seldom felt like any titles and #labels are really deserved.

I have a million interests, but it often feels like I'm buzzing around the arboretum, instead of being one of the plants. I know the "labels aren't good" perspective, but it does feel like a silly statement when we rely on #language and comparisons in the practical world. Is it possible to have human #impostersyndrome? I've long felt an #alien on this earth, biding time and waiting to be picked up again.

Please also share it with other colleagues that are most involved in this work.
