Just heard a UK Government ad telling me to "search digital ID consultation " to have my say on the new Orwellian nightmare they want to introduce. But that isn't bringing up any actual consultations for me, just a whole bunch of government PR (and one debate in Hansard).

Has anyone been able to find it?

But what are the benefits of a digital #IDCard system?

Suggestions floated today are that:

a) it helps employers quickly recruit people…there was me thinking interviews were about checking skills and aptitude.

b) they make it ‘easier’ to access disability benefits…but shouldn’t that depend on physical and mental need, something assessed by a medically trained human?

c) can be used instead of a passport…no physical document required to travel, that’s going to be a hacker’s dream

Sounds like a very weak version of #idCard

Just updating existing right to work checks legit employers already do.
Won't tackle any actual issues, cost a fortune.

Maybe we should *demand* its introduction? It would put an end to #VoterSuppression.
