SINOPSE:
O jogador de futebol Morgan viaja para uma ilha remota no Canadá para uma caçada, mas logo descobre que o local esconde um segredo terrível. Uma substância misteriosa que brota do solo, apelidada de “alimento dos deuses”, transformou a fauna local em monstros gigantescos. Vespas do tamanho de urubus, galinhas de dois metros e, principalmente, uma horda de ratos colossais e inteligentes passam a caçar os humanos. Encurralados em uma fazenda, o grupo precisa lutar pela sobrevivência antes que sejam devorados pela nova hierarquia da natureza.

Opinião:
A Fúria das Feras Atômicas é um clássico absoluto do cinema de criaturas que marcou a infância de muita gente nas exibições da TV aberta. Bert I. Gordon utiliza aqui todas as suas técnicas de sobreposição e miniaturas para criar os ratos gigantes, o que confere ao filme um charme nostálgico imbatível. Embora hoje os efeitos pareçam datados, a agressividade das cenas — especialmente os ataques dos ratos à casa e ao trailer — ainda consegue passar uma sensação de perigo real e desconforto.

O elenco conta com nomes de peso, como a lendária Ida Lupino e Ralph Meeker, que interpreta o empresário ganancioso que tenta lucrar com a substância mesmo em meio ao caos, um arquétipo clássico desses filmes. A trama segue um ritmo de cerco claustrofóbico na segunda metade, lembrando um pouco a estrutura de A Noite dos Mortos-Vivos, mas trocando os zumbis por roedores famintos.
