At the IDAHOT+ Forum in Copenhagen, I underscored the broader pushback to human rights, and the need to support civil society. I call on all state actors to re-engage and show leadership and determination in standing up for human rights. Despite progress, deep wells of discrimination and exclusion against LGBTI people remain across Europe.

L'Union Européenne 🇪🇺 autorise la torture sur les personnes LGBTQIA+ ! 🏳️🌈
Le 13 mai, la Commission Européenne a répondu à l'initiative citoyenne européenne signée par plus d'un million de citoyen⋅nes de l'UE pour demander d'interdire les thérapies de conversion, de la torture selon l'ONU.
En ce 17 mai, journée internationale de lutte contre l'homophobie, la biphobie et la transphobie, continuons de lutter pour l'égalité LGBTQIA+ et contre ces pratiques de torture !

Thanks for the post - though it doesn't really seem designed for the Fediverse, as its presentation and phrasing are quite Facebook-esque.
I would be truly delighted if the European Commission were to stand with LGBTIQ+ people across Europe and against hate, discrimination, and violence - not only on #IDAHOT, but on every other day of the year as well; ideally, this support would extend globally, ensuring that our beautiful community stands, beyond any doubt, as a safe haven for people anywhere in the world who are persecuted and punished simply for being who they are.
Furthermore, people with disabilities should also be able to benefit from your post - for instance, by adding ALT text to that charming meme.
That would be a step toward the kind of Europe in which I could feel reasonably safe and happy. -

Pour ce #17mai 2025, face à la montée du fascisme partout dans le monde, je nous souhaite à toustes, de la force, de la puissance, de la solidarité, de l'espoir dans nos luttes.
Le million de signatures contre les thérapies de conversion atteint hier, nous à prouvé qu'ensemble nous sommes plus fort'es, que l'on peut changer les choses et espérer.
