Das Rückspiegelpanel in der Tür ist so schlecht, ich hasse es um Größenordnungen mehr als das Touchlenkrad. Kein anderes Auto auf dieser ganzen Messe hat so einen Murks verbaut.

So, I read up on the Volkswagen 12V battery mystery before the car came into the shop - it seems there's an issue with the component that charges the 12V battery from the high voltage supply in some cars on this platform. When the service centre called, I thus questioned their estimate that all they would need to do would be to switch out the 12V and hand me back the car.
Today they told me to pick the car up, after having replaced the 12V. They _also_ scheduled a time where they need to take the car in for a two day "update" - without specifying further what that entails.
I have a guess. That component which is under recall* in the US but VW apparently don't want to talk too much about. If so, this problem is likely to happen in all early ID.7, besides the ID.4 and other cars on that platform.

I'm really happy with the Volkswagen ID.7. Except, yesterday it seems to have fully given up and started broadcasting some "ET phone home" codes before deciding that it was time to just shut off.
Now towed to the shop. When the 12V battery gave up in Nov it could've just been a random fluke. Second time around, most likely not.

Gestern Abend Major OTA Update der #ID7 Software. Ich kann mir bildlich die Besprechung des Dev-Teams vorstellen.
- "Update dauert über eine Stunde, lass mal den Benutzer aufordern, das Auto während dessen zu verlassen und zu verriegeln."
- "Jo, dann machen die das Abends."
- "Okay, das Update deaktiviert Keyless Go und das zeitgesteuerte Vorheizen des Wagens. Wär das nicht schlechte UX am nächsten Morgen, wenn wir das im Dezember ausrollen?"
- "Hihi, ja komm, lass machen!"

Hab ich noch gar nicht berichtet: Mein #ID7 ist jetzt auch von der 4.0 runter auf 5.6.3. Gab ein paar nette neue Features. Am offensichtlichsten das HeadUp Display. Ist hübscher und zeigt jetzt den Abstandswarner an. Bin immer noch sehr zufrieden mit dem Auto!
