Seems like iCloud Photos has a regression in their Shared Libraries that prevents me from downloading the photos from a browser if an image is in Shared Library. If I move it Personal library I can download it fine :/

Have successfully set up icloudpd to download all of my iCloud photos/media to a Linux file server at home. I've tried lots of things in the past, this seems to be working the best. I have it set to run as a cron job daily to sync only new files #icloudphotos #icloud https://github.com/icloud-photos-downloader/icloud_photos_downloader

#Immich first impressions

Well, not really first, but current. Last time I tried it was a couple of years ago, I think.

1. Looks and feels like a polished product.
2. I still can’t have two separate libraries. I really like the idea of two libraries - shared and personal. Like in Synology Photos or iCloud Photos.

I decided to give #Immich another try. I'll let it serve as a backup for my iCloud photos. Will see how it's going. For now, my poor phone is uploading my entire shared library to my poor server. Both are running hot but still standing strong : )

Data portability is badass and cool and yes I know this is a far broader and more nuanced discussion but can we at least agree this is a solid win for two of the largest personal services out there especially in the context of escaping the evils of Google

I love iCloud shared library, but I wish that I could rather than deleting a photo for all participants, after tapping delete, I could just say delete for myself so that way it goes into the other person personal library.

I love the automatically generated slideshows i get with #icloudphotos or #googlephotos. It just completely levels up the experience for me

As promised, Apple stopped automatically uploading photos to the Mac using My Photo Stream. Was there any indication on the phone that they were no longer syncing. No, that would be the courteous, customer centric thing to do.

Apple did send out a reminder on the 21st, but a notification on the phone would be the best thing.

And the only solution Apple offered was to subscribe to their iClown Photo service. But plugging the iPhone into the Mac works too.

This evening I successfully imported my exported Apple Photos library into my Lightroom Classic library. There are now, apparently, a total of 174,868 items in there. The count is inflated due to Live Photos, which are each one photo and one video, but still! #Photography #ApplePhotos #iCloudPhotos #Lightroom #LightroomClassic

Hey, uh, anyone know of a good way to determine whether Apple Photos has downloaded all original photos from iCloud?

Currently I am using https://fsmonitor.com to watch the cloudphotod process write new originals into my photo library package.

Meanwhile, Photos itself says, “Synced with iCloud just now” — there’s no indication that originals are still being downloaded and/or moved into place.
