custom shaman kit with some new spells, I think (not having played IWD too much means I'm not always sure on which spells are modded and which are just different from BG2)
I haven't played shamans much, but I think they've gotten a bad rep. Summoning can be annoying due to its limitations, but it's helpful for dealing with mobs (which are plentiful in this game), and having a sorcerer-like divine caster is really powerful for its utility.
I thought her personality would annoy me, but I ended up actually finding it charming.

since he's a vampire, he doesn't *die* if he's killed in combat, just drops out for a while to regenerate, which is really useful if you suck at combat like me lol

You need a thief, better to have a triple class one so he has more utility. Wildmage is fun because you can use higher level spells than your other mages have access to, but I don't like to take that risk lol
I think I'd find him more interesting if I'd played Lava's Ravenloft mods for BG2 yet; not sure if the story is connected or just the setting.

I find her kinda bland as a character, but you pick her up early in the game and being triple class gives her a lot of utility. I've been mostly ignoring her mage spells and just keeping her in heavy armor as a tank.

Also my PC is a bard, love how powerful the bardsong variations are in IWD, need to install a mod to give that to BG2 bards.

My third read of the year, a Classic (for certain values of Classic 😆 ): The Crystal Shard by R.A. Salvatore, first book (first published at least) in the legend of Drizzt the drow and Icewind Dale.

I loved the old #IcewindDale games, especially the second (alas that it didn't get an enhanced edition), and I've always been curious about these old D&D novels. So it was about time I got started.

Apparently Salvatore's first book, which shows, but still good nostalgia.

I'm of the mind to play Icewind Dale with a bard character. I usually have a thief in the party to unlock things and disarm traps, but in the past didn't see the point of bards in #DnD. Actually bards can do some of the same things like thieves. It might be interesting to switch things up a bit.

replaying #IcewindDale EE (maybe I'm actually gonna finish it this time!) because there's a whole bunch of new party member/romance mods & y'all know that's what I'm about lol

and I keep forgetting how hilariously OP the archer kit is in this game

I mean I still had to reload a bunch because I didn't consider party balance when picking characters & don't have a proper tank (um it's called ROLEPLAYING)

I've been reliving my late teens by playing #icewinddale (now ported on the #Switch )

After 20+ years, I think I'm finally getting the mechanics of it.

I did complete it once before with some judicious cheating, but normally I got frustrated and deleted my parties when they got inevitably laid waste in chapter 1 or 2.

I've got a good feeling about this lot tho...

If it's working out, I'm tempted to go back and make a party with real 1st roll attributes.

This game spikes very quickly at this point.

Reading old 1st edition #ForgottenRealms sourcebooks and playing #IcewindDale , I kind of want to rather set up an actual #OSRIC campaign.

But with what's being popular right now, I think starting an #OSE campaign and sneaking in some Advanced class options will probably get a lot more response.

Now the real adventure begins.

I think I've not played this game in 20 years. Might have started it once but don't think I've gotten far. Still know the prolog inside out. Not so sure about the mountain pass, and things will get really interesting once I get to the Vale of Shadows.
