1,9 km/h fehlten noch, um den deutschen Rekord zu schlagen. Ein ICE-S der DB Systemtechnik hat zusammen mit einem Velaro-Novo-Waggon von Siemens Mobility 405 km/h auf der Schnellfahrstrecke VDE 8 geschafft. Technisch ist der ICE-S für 440 km/h vorbereitet, was mit dem Zug aber noch nie ausprobiert wurde.

@zoltanjokay @Weinberg @nachtigal danke für eure Kommentare, die mich dazu motiviert haben, den Film Contra nun endlich zu schauen.
Vorallem die erste Hälfte hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Gegen Ende könnte es ruhig wieder mehr Rhetorik und weniger (Hollywood) Drama geben. Also schaue ich vlt doch mal beim Original rein. Aber ingesammt haben die "modernen" Themen (#Rassismus, #Religion, #Fleischkonsum) und die Kulisse (#Frankfurt, #ICEs) ganz gut gepasst.
In Errinerung bleibt mir der Teil mit "Fortschritt durch Diskurs". -

U.S. immigration authorities locked thousands of people in solitary confinement in 2023 as the United States continues to flout international human rights standards in its sprawling network of immigration detention facilities.
A new report by Harvard University-affiliated researchers and the nonprofit group Physicians for Human Rights found the dangerous confinements have not only persisted over the past decade, but also increased in frequency and duration under the Biden administration.
The report highlights the gap between President Joe Biden’s campaign rhetoric and the lived reality of an estimated 3,000 immigrant detainees held in isolation last year, often for prolonged periods — a practice that the United Nations warned can amount to torture.

Energy efficient. EVs convert over 77% of the electrical energy from the grid to power at the wheels. Conventional gasoline vehicles only convert about 12%–30% of the energy stored in gasoline to power at the wheels.
Environmentally friendly. EVs emit no tailpipe pollutants.
Performance benefits. Electric motors provide quiet, smooth operation and stronger acceleration
Reduced energy dependence. Electricity is a domestic energy source. -
@Hypx Depends where you live. France only uses 12% fossil fuels for power generation, for example. Norway around 1%. China 65%. USA 60%. Germany 50%.
Whichever way you cut it, #BEVs have a much lower CO2 footprint than #ICEs throughout the world.
Still, electric trains and buses are better.
And working from home.
