Are there any decent replacements for Outlook/Google calendar apps?

I want an Android (well, e/OS) calendar app that does what Outlook does minus the e-mail client – i.e. one that allows me to handle (not just subscribe to) both my work Exchange calendars and private Google calendars and to show upcoming calendar events in a widget on the home screen.

I tested Proton Calendar – falls short of the above.

@robhawkes Apple's reminders, although using @flexibits #Fantastical for the much better user interface. Kinda half-arsedly looking for an alternative back-end that I can still use via Fantastical, but Apple's implementation is, so I understand, a somewhat bastardised version of #iCal so not sure if that's even possible.

The original Legend of Zelda just turned 40! With other birthdays on the horizon (Twilight Princess's 20th is soon), I wanted a calendar that showed the anniversary of every Zelda game. So I made one.

I am looking for a script to merge two ics files.

Given two ics files I need a new one that contains a semantically 'Ok' merge.

e.g. I don't care about fields like PRODID, just choose one.
Did it ACKNOWLEDGED changed? -> Use the data from the newer one ... and so on.

It gladly may ask user feedback if it is not trivial to merge.

The #iCal feeds have been updated to be private and to give you a way to display your personal calendar in #Thunderbird, #Android, etc. You can choose to retrieve the events you manage, those from your community, or those you’ve indicated you plan to attend. A simple way to keep your cultural agenda close at hand.

Now whose genius idea was it to limit calendar event colors to precisely the named colors of CSS in RFC7986, which were never intended as a sole palette because CSS also supports hex colors? 🤯

(Explicitly *not* blaming the author here; this probably comes from legacy systems and was reviewed by any number of people that could have caught it.)

So, after spending the better part of the day working on this, I now have an #iCal file that contains _one_ event for Easter, which is using an RDATE property to list all of the Easter dates in about 200 years (because it's an irregular event and normal repeat rules won't work).

Thunderbird accepts this (even if it says "repeat details unknown"), #khal on the command line does, too.

@mailbox_org's #OpenXchange web UI doesn't display them. 😩

• alle bundesweiten und regionalen Feiertage für Deutschland, inklusive der Info (im Beschreibungstext), in welchen Bundesländer der Tag gesetzlicher Feiertag ist (ein Feed mit allem)
• Schulferien für einzelne Bundesländer (ein Feed pro Bundesland)

Einmalige Downloads sind okay, Feed-URLs wären fast besser.
