#SkyWatch #Astrophotography This image is an example of me #StillLearning because I didn't actually know what it was. A few nights ago, I was waiting for the Dumbbell Nebula to rise above the horizon and decided to try to capture something nearby. I moved my telescope to what I thought was the #Butterfly Nebula but when I looked it up later, my photo looked nothing like what I found online. There are multiple nebula called the Butterfly. So here is 12 stacked five minute exposures of #IC1318.

#SkyWatch #Astrophotography #Sadr is the bright star in this image. Also known as #GammaCygni it is the central star of the cross that makes up the #Cygnus constellation and is about 1800 light years from Earth. It is not the source of the large emission nebula #IC1318 that appears to surround it. #IC1318 is about 5000 light years from Earth and is sometimes called the #ButterflyNebula #StillLearning
