  1. @Zotmeister I don't remember the first CD.. but i remember the first set of DVDs that #iBoughtItFirst ... there was a promotion.. buy something like 100 bucks and you can get a DVD player half price.. so i bought 100 bucks of movies... and the DVD player half price.. since it was the beginning of times, not all movies i bought i loved... or liked..

  2. #IBoughtItFirst Not the first album I ever bought - I'd been buying vinyl for years by 1984 - but this was the first CD I purchased. Paid $36 in Camelot Records in Huntsville, Alabama. Still have it!

  3. The theme for @Kitty's #TuneTuesday is #IBoughtItFirst suggested by @Nicolaa

I remember hearing this song for the first time on the radio while I was driving in my car. I immediately stopped at a record store and bought the album before I proceeded to wherever I was going.

This is a song that just makes me feel good.

  4. Happy Birthday to @Kitty's #TuneTuesday 🎂 🎉
    This week's theme is #IBoughtItFirst by @Nicolaa.
At the tender age of 9, way before I started to attentively listen to music, everything was just background noise for me. The first album I bought was a CD, for my elder brother's birthday. A couple years had to pass before I started appreciating the genre of #TripHop.

  5. This week's #TuneTuesday theme is #IBoughtItFirst - the very first single/album you bought.

The first single I purchased with my own money was a 45 of Robert John - The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

I remember looking through a huge catalog book at Home Folks, finding it, placing my order, waiting for it to come in, and going to pick it up.

...only to realize there are multiple versions of songs.

It wasn't until years later, thanks to The Lion King, I found out the version I wanted was by The Tokens.

  6. For #TuneTuesday by @Kitty #IBoughtItFirst.

Not a clue about the first single but the first album I bought with my own money, my savings from birthdays, etc, was Appetite For Destruction by Gun's N' Roses. Not the year that was released (1987) as I was too wee but I'm pretty sure it was in summer 1990.

And the first VHS video I ever purchased was this one:

Sepultura - Under Siege Live In Barcelona 1991

(Also, a couple of years after the release)

  7. Today's #TuneTuesday theme is fun: #IBoughtItFirst aka, what's the first album or single you bought with your own money.

My best friend and I were HUGE into White Lion and when I moved away in 6th grade I bought Big Game on cassette as it had just come out. Before then I'd just copied cassettes or recorded stuff from the radio.

I haven't listened to this in a few decades. Little Fighter is great, of course, and their cover of Radar Love is also fantastic.

  8. Okay, I actually know this: the first CD I ever bought (and the portable stereo to play it on) is Strange Magic: The Best of Electric Light Orchestra. I bought it at the Lechmere (the former retail chain) *in* Lechmere (the neighborhood - CambridgeSide Galleria, to be precise), which I took the T to Lechmere (the Green Line terminus) to reach.

I bought this "No Wave To Go" 1978 US A&M Records limited edition Picture Disc just after seeing The Dickies in concert. It's early in the careers of some big artists including #JoeJackson, #UKSqueeze, #ThePolice #TheDickies, #TheStranglers, #KlarkKent (Stewart Copeland), #TheSecret (Canadian).

All music prior to this was gifted to me or checked out of the library and copied to cassette.

  13. It's #TuneTuesday and the theme is #IBoughtItFirst - the first single/album you got for yourself. @communiteatime is driving and picking the music, so don't say we didn't warn you. ⚠️

That first album was...Shepherd Moons by Enya. For a 90s teen into Irish and New Age music, what else would it have been? 😅

This was the fav song, and it made it onto an Ireland travel playlist for OSS-EU back in 2022. And now our earworm is yours! What was your first? 🐛

  14. The first record I ever was allowed to buy was Metallica’s S&M.

I actually was not allowed to listen to heavy music as a kid and it would be age 15 1/2 before I even heard heavy metal.

That said I owned a guitar shortly after my 16th birthday and the rest is history.

  15. It's #TuneTuesday and today's theme is the first single or album you bought #IBoughtItFirst

Since I joined one of those join the club and get 12 free albums through the mail as my first purchase, it can be a number of them. Here’s one I remember though and am not completely embarrassed to admit.

  16. Mhh, I'm not quite sure which one I bought first. But I remember that I bought "Tourism" in the legendary Saturn record store in Cologne Hansaring. #IBoughtItFirst

  17. So @Kitty's Tune Tuesday turns a year old today! Congrats!

In honor of that, we have a theme from @Nicolaa of "I Bought It First."

So, let's go back in time to a young MDMRN. It wasn't until the early 90s that I bought any music of my own. Before that, I listened to my parent's music.

The first album I used my own money to purchase for myself? Shaquille O'Neal's "Shaq Fu: Da Return." songwhip.com/shaquille-oneal/s

Yup, first album I bought was DJ Diesel.

  22. Nice topic for #tunesTuesday provided by @Nicolaa: #IBoughtItFirst

The first single I bought myself probably was „Pop Muzik“ by M.

    youtu.be/gPoiv0sZ4s4?feature=s

However, the first single I ever listened to was „Wig Wam Bam“ by The Sweet.

The first LP I owned was Pink Floyd‘s „Dark Side Of The Moon“ which was a gift from my uncle.

    And yes, I‘m old. :)

  23. #TunesTuesday turns one this week! 🎉
@Nicolaa had the honour to provide the theme: #IBoughtItFirst

Now guys, I see your posts, and I am pretty sure all of you are cheating. There is no way you listened to such good music when you were kids!

I am not ashamed to admit: while all of you blasted Paradise Lost, Type O Negative or some grungy Grunge, 10yo me bought this single:

    ...yes, Rednex!

@Kitty this one is for you, for all your efforts! Enjoy! 🤠👢
