On my way home after day 1 of #IBC2026, tomorrow's another day. Decided to use a proper radio for music during the train ride.

I gave a talk about #gstreamer at #ibc2026 today. Open Source video processing is not only limited to FFmpeg. When more flexibility and customisation is needed, GStreamer can be a good ally.
Come visit @igalia booth at Hall 5, A54, to learn more about GStreamer and see our camera rock-paper-scissors image inference demo running on #wpe #webkit on a Raspberry Pi 5.

Noticing something interesting heading into IBC this year.
A surprising number of substantial, functional updates across post-production apps and systems. Some flashy features, but even more small, practical additions people have been asking for for a long time.
My guess is this is AI-driven, though not in the "look, an AI feature" sense. More that AI tooling seems to be freeing up developer and designer time that used to go into back-end work, leaving more room to actually focus on function.
It's a nice development for us end users. I can't remember the last time I saw this many significant functional updates land in such a short window.
But I also see a flood of clearly vibe coded new entrants cloning existing tools. Hedge, for example, seems to have inspired what feels like a dozen alternatives lately. Makes me wonder how a company like that experiences this moment.

Noticing a surprising number of substantial, functional updates in post-production apps and systems around IBC this year. Way more than usual and often small stuff people have been asking for for a while.
My guess is this is AI-driven, not in the "look, an AI feature" sense, but AI tooling freeing up developer/designer time that used to go into back-end work.
Curious to see if that holds up once I'm actually at the show. If it does, seems like a genuinely positive outcome from all this.
