So I do a tech adjacent form of study irl, and one of our assignments was sort of, systemic dangers of the internet, and its fascinating to observe this paradigm shift of attitude towards data collection. Like, when Facebook first started tracking it was a massive deal with unending push back and the government watching them. And now tumblr (rip bozo) can just fork over all content to an AI generation thing and no one expect the users really care. Most people in my cohort don't use an adblocker or Firefox despite us literally being taught about privacy and data breaches. There's an air of digital apathy or Stockholm about privacy violations and its super depressing.
