Lines composed in honor of the venerable brothers Julius the presbyter and Julian the deacon (remembered on 21 June)

Two brothers, Julius and Julian,
received an order from the Emperor
that all throughout the empire they should go,
constructing temples to the living God.
When they had finished number ninety-nine,
the younger Julian began to build
a tomb in which his brother might be laid.
But when he showed the grave to Julius,
the elder brother meekly made reply:
“Make ready, O my brother in the flesh;
for this tomb is prepared for you, not me.
Prepare yourself to face the awesome Judge
before your brother, sinful Julius.”
Then God appointed Julius to build
a hundredth church upon an isle at sea;
and, as he had foretold, his brother died
before construction had been made complete.
When it was finished, Julius reposed
and joined his brother where the righteous dwell.

My 1st grader insists on wearing stained and torn clothes to school. It's inspired me to doggrel:

Thou wastrel with thine holey shirt and hose,
a breezy drought follows wheree’re thou goest,
as if blesst with summer zephyrs all year round
But blows thine elders’ patience to the ground.

To dine tonight, I shall partake
Of bratwurst, with a side, oh so fine
Or maybe, a frozen pizza bake
To fill my belly and ease my mind

I'll savor each bite, and let out a sigh
As flavors of sausage and cheese combine
A meal fit for a king, or so I
Shall deem it, as I recline

So if you should happen to pass my way
And spy me eating in the fading light
Do not be shy, but join me, I pray
