Implementing #sha3 yielded some interesting #benchmark results. When comparing C compilers capable of generating 16-bit #DOS binaries, #ia16gcc generated the fastest code across all tested CPUs, by a large margin, from 8088 to 486.
Interestingly, even Turbo C++ 1.01 generated faster code than #Watcom C.
