I have always found the idea of tapping into the creative subconscious mind interesting. I've done a little bit of online research over the years and have dabbled with open-eye meditation, binaural beats and herbal teas. I know it sounds daft but it's helped me tap into a creative side of my brain. I think it's called the hypnagogic state. Anyway, today I've had a tinker with creating a 24/7 stream of ambient nature sounds and all that in the hope that it'll help me with my meditation and creativity. It seems to be working which is very exciting. I'll link to it when I've got it all finished etc. I am very excited though!
