@funkylab I tried that first and I got #gnuradio to open but it wouldn’t recognize the #hydrasdr. So I backed the install out and built it from source. Still no joy.

Whoo-hoo I got #ubuntu #linux running on my #hamradio laptop. #sdrpp works and so does #wsjtx with the #hydrasdr and #ic7300. The #laptop is an old #lenovoyoga 1st generation.

I appreciate the creative conspiracy thinking, but I can assure you there's no government puppet master pulling the strings here.
HydraSDR RFOne is my own independent project - all hardware, firmware, and software designed and developed by me here in France.
It's open-source by design specifically to avoid the kind of backdoors and hidden agendas you're concerned about.
The goal is actually the opposite of mass surveillance -democratizing access to SDR technology so more people can understand and monitor the RF spectrum around them. Transparency over opacity, you know?
Jeff's just genuinely excited about open hardware projects. Sometimes the simplest explanation is the right one!
