Clubes de precio ganan terreno en moda: así impulsan marcas como Champion, Hurley y Anne Klein en México
Los clubes de precio fortalecen su presencia en la industria de la moda en México. Marcas internacionales aprovechan este canal para ampliar su distribución ante un consumidor que privilegia calidad, funcionalidad y mejor relación precio-valor.

Lo que durante años fue identificado principalmente como un formato para comprar despensa al mayoreo, hoy se consolida como uno de los canales más importantes para la comercialización de productos de consumo, incluidos ropa, calzado y accesorios. En México, los clubes de precio amplían su participación dentro del sector retail gracias a consumidores que priorizan conveniencia, calidad y ahorro en una misma visita.
El crecimiento de este modelo también ha abierto nuevas oportunidades para la industria de la moda, que encuentra en estos establecimientos un espacio para ampliar su alcance entre compradores que buscan prendas funcionales, marcas reconocidas y una mejor relación entre precio y valor.
Un modelo con más de tres décadas en México
El formato de clubes de precio llegó al país en 1992 con la apertura de la primera tienda Price Club en el Estado de México, resultado de una alianza entre Costco y Comercial Mexicana. Desde entonces, el modelo evolucionó con la incorporación de nuevos participantes y hoy forma parte de los segmentos con mayor consolidación dentro del comercio minorista físico.
De acuerdo con datos de la consultora ISCAM, el canal mayorista, al que pertenecen los clubes de precio, registró durante 2025 un crecimiento de 3% en volumen y de 2.7% en valor. El análisis también reporta un incremento de 11% en el ticket promedio de compra.
El estudio señala que las categorías de moda, calzado, alimentos y cuidado del hogar concentran buena parte de las ventas realizadas en estos establecimientos.
¿Qué explica el crecimiento del formato?
Especialistas atribuyen la consolidación de los clubes de precio a diversos factores que han fortalecido la preferencia del consumidor.
Uno de ellos es la practicidad, ya que permiten adquirir productos de distintas categorías en un solo lugar, desde alimentos hasta tecnología y prendas de vestir, lo que reduce tiempos de compra y favorece visitas recurrentes.
Otro elemento es la selección de productos. A diferencia de otros formatos comerciales, los clubes de precio ofrecen un portafolio más limitado, pero cuidadosamente elegido, lo que favorece la rotación de mercancías y fortalece la confianza del consumidor en las marcas disponibles.
Además, el esquema de membresías mantiene elevados niveles de fidelidad. De acuerdo con cifras del sector, las tasas de renovación anual oscilan entre 80% y 90%, lo que proporciona un flujo constante de compradores y mayor certidumbre para las empresas que comercializan sus productos mediante este canal.
La moda amplía su presencia
El crecimiento del formato también modifica la estrategia comercial de diversas compañías dedicadas a la moda.
Aunque los clubes de precio no suelen orientarse a colecciones de diseñador o prendas de temporada, sí representan un espacio atractivo para ropa casual, deportiva y básicos de uso cotidiano, segmentos donde el volumen de venta y la frecuencia de compra adquieren mayor relevancia.
En este contexto, IB Group, a través de su división Fashion Depot, incorporó este canal como parte de su estrategia comercial para ampliar la distribución de marcas internacionales en el mercado mexicano.
Entre las firmas que forman parte de su portafolio se encuentran Anne Klein, London Fog, Hurley, Champion y Express, las cuales complementan su presencia en tiendas departamentales y otros puntos de venta mediante los clubes de precio.
Un canal con potencial de crecimiento
La evolución del comportamiento del consumidor mexicano apunta hacia compras cada vez más enfocadas en la funcionalidad y el valor percibido. Bajo ese escenario, analistas del sector consideran que los clubes de precio continuarán ampliando su participación dentro del comercio minorista.
Además de su papel tradicional como canal de abastecimiento, el formato se perfila como una plataforma relevante para que las marcas de moda fortalezcan su presencia en México mediante una estrategia basada en volumen, recurrencia y cercanía con el consumidor. –sn–
