#hurl now makes #json have some formatting when an output response. 😍

I use hurl both home and at work. And while you can use #jq to format, it is really nice not to have to look for another tool when I'm troubleshooting tests. 😎

i’m tired of #postman, #apidog, and the likes.
those are over-engineered and expensive solutions to a simple problem.

haven't looked into solutions, but i want this to go back to the basics. some kind of file+CLI solution where i can easily define an API call and repeat/ manipulate it when needed.

one of our services is running a #hurl test suite after deployment, this might likely be the simplest and best replacement...

Sweet. #hurl now let's you do HTTP version checks with an assert. Small, but such a nice quality of life improvement. Instead of doing the same request twice with http/2, you can do version number and validate at once. 😎

Just found out that #httpie desktop edition had a new release.

The tool is quite elegant and does give uses outside of #hurl. 😁 Especially when I want something like API definitions preloaded for discovering what can be done. 😉

#Hurl, maybe my favourite #Postman replacement, just released a new major version. Nothing too big from my POV, but the --curl "native export" looks useful. So you can communicate your requests to folks who use curl, or use it as input to other tools’ importers, which usually "speak" curl.

(Before you had to fish the #curl equivalent out of the verbose output. PS: I wish --very-verbose was just -vv or --vv; to whom it may concern :)

Yeah... You'll need to fight me to the death to get rid of #hurl from my tool belt. 😅 I been able to catch production ending failures thanks to it already. 😁

Though likely #k6 would've done the same. But at the same speed... I'm not so sure. 😅

I do like and recommend k6 at $dayjob. Still, for these fast integration tests, I cannot think of getting more productive than with hurl. 😎

I recently discovered #hurl. Basically a light DSL for doing http requests on the terminal.

Where hurl shines is in testing an or automating and API call. 😎 I went from not knowing the tool, to setting up all my tests with it in a span of a week. 😅

@fabian I have tried both. My take is #hurl may be the better option.

The language is not Turing complete. Instead favoring the Unix philosophy of using other cli tools to extend it. Versus #Bruno, where you have to think on how to instrument only in the sandbox provided.

That and getting hurl installed for usage with #CI is considerably easier than having to install an npm package for bru cli.

It looks like #HomeBrew on #macOS has become useable for me since I last checked.
I only work on Macs using non-admin accounts and last time I tried, Homebrew wouldn’t work with it. Yesterday I found out there is now an installer and it seems to work fine. I tried again checking out #Hurl.

@donncha I've also come to appreciate #Hurl as an alternative. It is brilliant for scripted suites of HTTP test requests including assertions on the response.
