The new Hungarian government has been moving at pace to dismantle the governmental, political, and legal structures put in place by the previous Orbán regime. Some of those measures, such as retrospectively limiting Members of Parliament terms to 12-years (3 election cycles) - which disproportionally impacts previous government MPs - and ending the term of the President - an Orbán lackey - forthwith, appear to be on the margins of what constitutes good democratic government. But sometimes you have to fight fire with fire, so I am OK with these measures.
These measures go to show that once you break the norms of democratic government has Orbán did - and Trump is doing - you can't go back to the old ways. Rebuilding after a hard-right government has been in power will be a difficult and at times unpalatable process, if it is to sucessfully undo the damage they caused.

TIL: Ungarn hat ein stark Richtung Mehrheitswahlrecht ausschlagendes Wahlrecht¹, das Orbán 2011 nochmal zu Gunsten seiner »Fidesz – Magyar Polgári Szövetség« reformiert hatte – und soweit ich das sehe, hat genau diese Reform dazu geführt, daß die »Tisztelet és Szabadság Párt« mit knapp über der Hälfte der Stimmen im neuen Parlament eine komfortable ⅔-Mehrheit der Sitze bekommen hat. Und jetzt hoffen wir, daß sie selbige nutzt, um Demokratie und Rechtsstaat wiederherzustellen².

Dass Orban die Wahl verloren und Péter Magyar mit seiner Partei sogar offenbar eine Zweidrittelmehrheit gewonnen hat, hört sich zunächst super an.
Aber man sollte nicht vergessen, was 16 Jahre Orban und Korruption mit einem Land machen können.
Die neue Regierung wird es nicht leicht haben, 16 Jahre Orban in den nächsten 4 Jahren zurückzudrehen. Einige Sachen werden sich auch nicht so einfach revidieren lassen und die Folgen werden noch jahrzehntelang zu spüren sein.
Ich bin da eher skeptisch, was die neue Regierung leisten kann und vermute, dass sie auf halben Weg im Sumpf der existierenden Korruption stecken bleiben wird.
Hoffentlich werde ich eines Besseren belehrt.
