Another favourite image from my 30+ year photographic career. Moving on to overseas landscape, this is Rakaposhi (7788m) from Hunza, Pakistan. It has the longest uninterrupted rise on Earth (at least on land): 6000 metres from base to summit.

Yet I could have just stayed there and remain young forever. 🙂
Of course, I'm referencing to that old James Hilton novel "The Lost Horizon". (You can download for free and read it on your Kindle. I recommend it.) Some people say Hunza is the original "Shangri-La", the inspiration for the book- the secret paradise on earth where people live hundreds of years and remain strong and healthy. I will not dispute that. It's a totally different reality, it's like you're in a trance all the time. It's "unreal".

The #Burusho are a small ethnic group living in the sub-Himalayan region of #pakistan called the Hunza Valley or simply #Hunza. They would not be particularly notable, except for two rather unique and interesting features. The more interesting, but less famous, of these features is that their language (Burushaski) is unrelated to any other in the world. This in itself is not unusual, as there are many language isolatesWikipedia throughout the world. Their better known feature is their spot as a ploy in one of the most egregious instances of diet woo that has ever been perpetrated in history.
James Hilton's 1936 novel Lost Horizon introduced the world to the notion of Shangri-La, a too-good-to-be-true Himalayan paradise of near-immortal godlike beings who have achieved perfect health and contentment.
