  1. I’m proud to announce my 2026 Redwood Coast Birds calendar is available for purchase on my shop! It’s a 7x10” flip calendar with a stylized list of dates that really get out of the way of the beautiful bird imagery. It’s essentially a collection of twelve mini-prints, perfect for one’s office or rooms with little wall space.

Each bird can be seen on the Redwood Coast here in the Pacific Northwest in the US, but especially here in Humboldt County. Most of the illustrations were requested by patrons who visited my booth over the summer, asking if I could do specific birds because they had connections to them or stories they cherished.

This is a deeply personal collection for me. It is the beginning of my connection to the residents of my new community to which I moved at the beginning of the year.

  2. Tonight is the last night of the Friday Night Market series. After a summer of evening street fair events featuring local artists, makers, food, and music, the event is finally wrapping things up. Soon it will be colder, wetter, and the days will be shorter making outdoor venues like this impossible.

But today, the sun is out and the temperatures are a nice lower 60s—perfect for a nice stroll through booths of community artisans doing their thing they feel passionate about. Me included.

I hope to see you there.

  3. Tonight I set up my booth for the first time by myself. I had to do it eventually, so now’s as good a time as any.

it’s a lot of stuff, and while I usually have my husband helping me, he can’t tonight. So it will take me double the time to set it up and take it down. I’m sure I can do it, I just expect it’s going to be a long night. Haha!

    Wish me luck!

  8. Vending at #FridayNightMarkets in Eureka, CA again tonight, where I can interact with people and check in with reality. It’s a lovely day here at 65° with lots of sun. I’m hoping that means people will step out and enjoy the street fair.

I have a new Pelican piece to share as a greeting card, and I want to buy some of my neighboring booth vendor’s tea that she grows and blends herself. I think it’s going to be a good night!

  13. It took me three weeks of livestreaming to get this image done (six 3 hour sessions) because I made two Raven images to import as assets into this third image.

And after a bit of additional offline tweaking, It’s finally complete!

    “Raven Raven”.

It’s available as a greeting card here:
    goimagine.com/raven-raven-bird

    Here are the three speedpaints:

    Raven #2: makertube.net/w/hyFjTw3UZA6qK5

I use Procreate to draw these, so they’re all #HumanMade. I print them out on my own high-end studio printer and then package and post them myself.

  14. I’m returning to Friday Night Market tonight, and really looking forward to it. It will be nice to interact with real people again, since last week it wasn’t held because of Independence Day celebrations. I’ve been living in my head for a while and breaking out of it has been challenging… This will be a good opportunity to do so.

I’m selling prints for the first time tonight. I’ve never offered them before. I’ll be selling limited edition, numbered, signed, & certed 11x17” prints tonight. We’ll see how it goes. I’m not expecting much, but it’ll be nice to show off my artwork at a larger scale than just greeting cards.

    Alrighty. Onward!

  15. Today’s newly available greeting card is a Raven that was requested by a patron at #FridayNightMarket. I’ve got a second one coming, but I didn’t realize how meaningful this particular bird was to Humboldt County’s northern California area. It’s a prominent feature in Redwood trees inland, and has deep significance to local native American tribes.

Everything I make is #HumanMade. I paint in Procreate, print, pack, and post everything myself.

  16. Tonight I do another Friday Night Markets event here in Eureka as a stationery purveyor.

The novelty has not worn off, and I’m excited to once again share my stuff. If I don’t think of it as a “sales” event and more of a “meet and greet” event, it’s a delight! Compartmentalizing the pressure to sell stuff is really tough, but I’m getting better at crushing it down into a little golf ball deep into my subconscious. It helps my hubby is there to support me, and we have a great time!

I’m taking a bunch of new locally-themed stuff with me tonight, and hoping it’ll go well! But regardless, it will be fun. And I’m learning I have to actively put myself in situations where I’m not online and dwelling on horrors. I have to be purposeful about it. And this is one of those methods I’m using to make myself let go and just be in the moment.

I dunno if anyone from Humboldt County, California, is actually here on Mastodon and even goes to this event. But if you do, I’ll give you a 10% discount at my booth if you mention Mastodon. Jus’ cuz I can!

  21. I’ve started using my style to make locally-inspired pieces that I’m going to try to sell here in my new home region. I’m pretty excited to be leaning into these—it’s one thing to make work based on a story, and another thing to make pieces referencing the visual flavor of a location… This is out side the box for me, and I’m enjoying it!

  23. So even though things seem to be going nutzoid in SoCal tonight (oy!!) I thought I might share two personally good news events that I’m celebrating with a nice drink tonight:

    1) I did my first weekly event as an art stationer last night here in Eureka, CA, and made $206. Not only did I meet my goal, but literally met dozens of friendly people welcoming me to the area with hugs and smiles (sometimes quite literally), wishing me good luck and excited to greet me. It was incredibly validating and humbling, and I feel wanted and needed, but most importantly I feel like I made the right choice moving here.

    2) I had three pieces displayed professionally in a local artist-run gallery for a show. It wasn’t juried—it was an open call for all members, whatever they wanted to submit—but I’ve never had my work displayed like it was and it made me feel… legitimate somehow. Artist statement and everything. It felt like I’d… arrived somehow.

So needless to say, I had problems sleeping last night, I was so high and so tired.

Anyway, I thought I’d share. Small victories, eh?

    Onward!

  24. I got approved to be in my local Friday Night Market experience here in Eureka, CA! Woohoo!

    fridaynight.market/

I really hope selling things in person works, because trying to develop a presence through social media simply doesn’t work anything like it used to.

I sold less than $1000 last year trying to grow. I love the Fediverse, but honestly it’s a particularly brutal platform for artists trying to get the word out and sell their stuff. I’ve seen more than 2/3 of the artists I had been following simply abandon it since I joined in the fall of ’23. Hundreds and hundreds of artists...

I have a few other shows I want to participate in, but they’re pricey (both are over $225 for their two-day events). I know it takes money to make money, but wow. We figured out I’d need to sell 60 cards at one and 90 cards at the other just to break even after expenses. I’ve only sold just under 125 cards all year…

So it’s gonna be challenging. And I’m one of the lucky ones, to be truthful. So I’ll keep adding stuff to my Goimagine shop (I just added 14 cards over the last 3 days) and I’m working on getting some additional items up. But we’ll see! Yoinks! it’s gonna be interesting… hehe…

But celebrate the victories, right? And I got in!!! Woohooo! One step at a time!

  25. It has been clear for a while now that we’re going to need to support each other to get through this. And now that literally trillions have been lost from our economy that will take years (if not decades) to repair, it’s clear we’re going to need to do it monetarily, too.

I urge you to modify your purchasing paths and maybe commit to supporting your local businesses, artisans, and local charities whenever you can.

I know it’s not always feasible or realistic to say “Boycott this chain forever!” or “This man is evil, don’t support him!” Sometimes they’re unavoidable.

BUT. You can mitigate their impact. It is with in your power to make small shifts. To develop new habits. To try new things. To choose not to use Amazon or big-chain stores once in a while. To choose to go out of your way every now and then to pay a little more in order to support your neighbor’s business. To donate your coffee creamer money to charity one week and use milk and sugar instead.

I’m not saying shift your life to make completely new purchasing choices. I am asking you to try opening yourself up to your community and valuing things in a different way more often than you may be doing.

There are many more broke folks out there than not. Many more small businesses than not. And those local connections appreciate your business more than those other folks will ever do.
