  5. I finally hit publish on a post I've been kicking around.

    The Human/Personal/Indie Web

I didn't really want to wind up with a {collection of links + mine & others' general vibes about the human/personal/indie web} or to try to be a resource.

Alas, I landed at no greater message than: here’s a collection of meandering vibes and links and an enthusiastic "here here" from my small corner.

  9. Techdirt: Stop Begging. Start Building. “We should build new systems that give users actual agency and choice. We should support candidates who demonstrate what better governance looks like through their actions, not just their words. We should create communities and institutions that embody our values rather than tilting at windmills and pretending to fix ones that actively oppose them. Most […]

  11. How-To Geek: Take a Break From the Modern Internet, Surf the Original Web. “Most of us feel stuck switching back and forth between the same five apps. We’re stuck because companies spend billions to keep us ‘engaged’ on their respective platforms. That’s why the internet feels like it has shrunk to a handful of apps, and stopped being a place you once explored and browsed. The good news is, […]

We're six (6) editions deep with no signs of slowing down. Take a look if you wish. You might find something you like!

  14. My weekly collection of cool stuff I've read on the web, Scraps, comes early today. We've got tic-tac-toe made with only CSS (as in, no html 🤯), some thoughts on LLMs, a way we can be better in the indieweb, an amazing in-progress technical reference manual and a whole bunch of other #indieweb #infosec #tech and more stuff to peruse. Some great stuff this week, #humanweb! Thanks for being awesome!

  17. To celebrate the first anniversary of my website, I've written a "thank you"-letter to all the bloggers of the human web:

Special thanks again to @bojidar_bg for the birthday cake.

I'm looking forward to many more years on the personal web!

  23. My crafter pub friend @BigEatie came out swinging with an excellent first post¹ on his brand new blog. I love it when tech folks share their other interests and they intersect and enhance it with FOSS. I learned some cool things about chess. Thanks for sharing!

If anyone is on the fence about blogging and sharing your hobbies, please do! Take back the open and human web!

  26. An #introduction 👋

As my bio indicates I'm a bit of a nerd with a passion for the simpler things. Expect technology (infrastructure) posts, security musings and occasional discoveries and PoCs ( #infosec and #privacy are passions of mine) interspersed with some life stuff, whether it's finance, garden or home renovation oriented. Maybe some writing, too.

Recently learned about the #indieweb / #smallweb mindset and am embracing the #humanweb to bring back some fun to this series of tubes.

  30. "…the stores that deliver all the apps on our phones are cracking open, the walls between #socialmedia platforms are coming down as the old networks fail…but amidst it all, the #humanweb, the one made by regular people, is resurgent. We are about to see the biggest reshuffling of power on the #internet in 25 yrs, in a way that most of it’s current users have never seen before."
