review, Foundation, s1e2: Civilizational Mathematics

Gaal Dornick asks the Foundation committee which base system(s) will be recorded, whether base 10, or base 12, etc. The committee is deciding which pieces of information need to be prioritized about Human history. And whose information, starting with the mathematics, and the numbering system(s). But they seem to have forgotten to recall that there is more than one system. That is a very important observation: base 12 and base 20 are key numbering systems used in the first counting traditions, and they come together in the number 60 (12*5=20*30), which come to the Western world (quatre-vingts = 80…) in the form of some of our languages, and in our time-keeping systems, as well as our calendar (at least the Julian and Gregorian calendars, which both have 12 months rather than the 13 lunar months, in a year). Recording that is the very beginning and fundamental information about a civilization.

Understanding the foundations of how we frame our world, through the structures we use for counting, and through our languages, is an important part of understanding how we make decisions, and why. This is another reason that the Project Do Better Fund works to put new tools into the hands of young children, as early as possible, like the kids at Bright Beginnings in DC, via the GWCF. The (always free) Do Better manifesto is part of that Work, as Toni Morrison reminds us needs to be done.

Actually, would anyone know which Amiga demo I heard it in? It was a MOD version of course, and I remember a starfield zoomer or something. Basically just a music intro or music disk, but the tune was lovely (for ages I thought that was the original).

Blood Incantation, banda de death metal del país tal vez más amado/odiado U.S.A, de la ciudad de Denver, Colorado, quienes mezclan la brutalidad con pasajes armoniosos, los cuales en momentos me hacen sentir completamente envueltos en su música.
Recomiendo encarecidamente su disco Hidden History of the Human Race del año 2019, el cual encuentro que es ya un clásico moderno.
Si alguien tiene alguna banda que recomendar estoy completamente abierto para asi poder retroalimentar de buena manera el gusto por la música "extrema".

@danjac @angelastella @countcol @Probertd8 I (67yo) firmly believe that there ought to be an upper age limit for politicians. The old farts know they’ll be dead before the #ClimateCrisis peaks. We need young, idealistic leaders who have investment in saving the #humanrace.

Humans in this time period are just unaware of the planets history.
And don't really care or are too involved with petty disputes. don't care about the human race. I won't live long enough to see their down fall. But I can see it coming. Sad that on a planet this old that the current rain of human species has doomed it self to fail. There is really such a big potential.

So the under-reported #health costs of giving birth is major social issue;

its not an unfortunate by-product, its a medical problem that we must address;

Honestly? Unlikely.
But as the #HumanRace is fighting for its survival (at least 2-3 billion of its specimen, some may survive,) we all don't have a choice but to try.
