I will neither confirm nor deny purchasing a treadle driven scroll saw, a Miller's Fall 387. Will need restoration to work. The drive wheel mounted on a stand could be mounted back on the saw, and a wood or metal arm attached to a wooden platform on a hinge. #humanpower

Aha, found the scavenged treadmill motor. Now, to figure out how to mount this. I wonder if it's better to have the treadle belt over the flywheel (like a sewing machine, big diameter) instead of where the serpentine belt used to go.... probably will have to drill some belt holes to hold everything together to the wood top. #projects #humanpower #solarpunk

Hahahahaha got the treadle working again! They had spray painted it all and locked the joints in place. Unbolted and rebolted things, reinforced the frame with some scrap wood, attached to the table, and lubricated with TriFlow lubricant (which has Teflon in it). Worked it until it started moving. Now to drill holes in the table and get another belt or two. #humanpower #treadle

New challenge accepted. Estate sale treadle base with no attached top (random top was on it being used for antique display) which was being used decoratively. Now to figure out how to attach this and make it work, mechanically (alignment will be required, I think). Then, will figure out how to use the treadle to drive a salvaged motor from a treadmill to charge a 12V battery. Or, can mate this with the next treadle powered sewing machine that crops up at the right price. #humanpower #projects

I see we have improvements to make regarding vibration. After several months of regular use, many bolts got loose and rattle.

My first serious conversation with #chatgpt As a pretty inexperienced and lame Rust developer I was struggling around ffi, bindgen and how to use generated code. It turns out that #AI was confused as well and hasn't give me an useful advice.
Pros: it works well as an advanced search engine - gimme a Rust crate with bindgen and *FILE
Cons: you better know what to ask _exactly_

the talent is there but we have a disconnect between #funding and #HumanPower.
And maybe some of those startups would set a path for more #humane and #HumanFirst companies - and not just for the tech sector.

Coucou les Mammouths ! Dans notre démarche de "changer de vie", nous faisons pas mal de recherches et tests sur l'électricité en autonomie. And this (in addition to all of its other benefits) is why I support #humanpower as the #renewable backup-of-choice for #wind, #solar, and #hydro. If you have to generate your own power - even if it's only for a couple hours a week when it's not windy or sunny - then you have intrinsic motivation to use less
(Even if not though, using more power = having to build more generators, so the idea still applies as long as it's decentralized)
