Via LA County JCIC: People directly impacted by the recent fires in Los Angeles County may be eligible for new Disaster CalFresh food benefits from the State of California.
A family of four with a monthly income up to $3,529 per month may be eligible to receive a one-time $975 food benefit if you lived or worked in a zip code impacted by the fires on Jan. 7, 2025.

Jan 23 at 10:22 AM ESTThe fire is "looking pretty quiet" this morning, per air attack. Most of the activity is in the vicinity of Lake Hughes Road on the east side of the fire. This will likely be a priority today. Per South Ops, the fire had minimal activity overnight with creeping and backing. Air attack has requested two Type 1 copters. The fire remains 10,176 acres and 14% contained.

Good news. The MODIS and VIIRS satellite heat detection data only shows a few ‘hits’ within the prior 6 hours. Those are the darkest symbols on the map. But keep in mind that there can be hours before the next satellite pass and the fire could be expanding during that time.
The orange symbols west of the lake are “false positive” detections from yesterday. For more info about MODIS/VIIRS data, open the map and click “Map tips” in the upper left corner.

" Air Quality Alert for smoke issued in county
District warns that Hughes Fire causes unhealthy conditions
The Ventura County Air Pollution Control District is issuing an Air Quality Alert because unhealthy conditions exist.
Smoke from the Hughes Fire is causing the Air Quality Index (AQI) to fall in the unhealthy range for everyone in Camarillo, Fillmore, Moorpark, Oxnard, Piru, Santa Paula, Simi Valley and Ventura. Smoke and ash from wildfires contain very small particles that can harm the lungs and heart. (cont)"
