  6. Another hall of shame entry for crimes against HTML email, this one from Trustpilot via a retailer. The broken images demonstrate a lack of knowledge in when HTML email does or does not load remote resources. It also shows it wasn't tested. The "Click here" on a mobile device is just the cherry on top. #HTML #email #HTMLEmail #WebDesign #Marketing #Trustpilot

  16. System email notifications. Should we still be sending a plain text equivalent with HTML or is that antiquated now? For B2B messages, it's going to be mainly Outlook and Gmail, isn't it?

  21. And again,

    I really can't understand what the point of adding

    style="overflow-y: hidden;"

    to HTML emails is. It just means that it won't scroll in probably anything but web mail.

    This is just pure hostile design (in this case it's a response to a complaint which just rubs it in...)

  26. I've been visiting https://www.caniemail.com/ WAAAAAYYY to much over these last couple of days.

    I don't want to deal with HTML e-mail anymore. Can't I just become a stroopwafel seller in Seoul (or Jakarta), a woodworker or a farmer ?
    😩 😩

  31. A perfect example why I refuse to use #HTMLemail. My father spotted this email (he's the treasurer for Brisbane WICEN) and noticed the odd figure.

    K9-mail would only show the HTML version, which made the scam look _very_ authentic.

    I hit the 3 dots and forwarded it as an attachment to my own email address to have a good look. Thunderbird's #PlainTextEmail view laid bare the scam.

  36. I just republished an old favourite from the dead CoActivate version of the #Disintermedia blog. The hardy annual about about why sending HTML as email is a bad idea:

    disintermedia.net.nz/get-your-

    Now that I've got 3 proper pieces posted (not including the intro) in under a month, I feel confident to turn on the thing that allows paid subscribers (hint, hint!).

  40. I love the new CSS logical properties and use them everywhere now... except... in the weird styling of HTML email. I'm just not confident that they would be supported across the board yet. Does anyone actually know? Is there a caniuse.com type resource specifically for HTML email?
